While you may be tempted to pay off the collections agencies that might be harassing you, the most important step for you to take with your money right now is to pay your bills on time. Bringing your bills up to current and continuing to pay them on time is your key to fixing your credit. Any bill that has gone to collections should be paid after this is handled, because even once you settle your debt, that mark will remain on your credit reports for years. If you frequently forget to pay your bills, talk to your bank about setting up automatic, recurring payments for your monthly bills. This should also save you stamps!

If you have need to open a new credit card, like a loan or a credit card, be sure to do your shopping for these services within a set week or two and don’t drag it out over a period of time. This lets the credit bureaus know that all the inquiries that took place at this time were for the same reason, not a chronic and sustained need for new credit.

From here on out, it’s just a matter of keeping up your desire to come out ahead. It takes discipline and desire to really change your habits, but the rewards of better credit are significant for your bottom line and for your quality of life.

Before trying to repair credit after bankruptcy, make sure you are well informed… Filing for bankruptcy can be a very difficult and trying time for individuals who have to go through the process; it can scar the credit score of that individual, and can be very difficult to obtain lines of credit after you have filed for bankruptcy. Bankruptcy leads to bad credit ratings in the consumer market, however, it is possible to rebuild your credit score after you have filed bankruptcy. It is a long and tedious process, but it is possible and if you work at it, you can improve your score back to a respectable, and for some consumers, excellent credit score.

The first tip to rebuilding your credit is to hire an attorney who can properly compute all details of the bankruptcy proceeding. A lawyer knows the ins and outs of the industry, and can properly lead you through the process of rebuilding your credit becuase they know the laws, in turn can offer you the best bankruptcy advice. – Although not advisable, if you are doing it on your own (don’t want to pay an attorney), get a reputable guide in the market to help repair your credit rating.

The next thing you should do is obtain all three of your credit reports (Equifax, Trans Union, and Experian), from the credit reporting agencies. Make sure to study them entirely and extensively, looking for errors and omissions in the report which can further put a damper on your score. If you do come across errors send an appeal, with a copy of the errors, to your creditors (as well as if there were any referances to good credit which have been omitted from your report). Next file a claim with the FTC, under laws provided for in the Fair Credit Reporting Act.

Next you should open a savings account in the bank, no matter how small a deposit you initially make. Make regular payments until all your debts are paid off, to all creditors (secured and unsecured). Use the savings account to manage these expenses, and help keep finances in order. It does take some time for your score to improve, a period of about six to eight months is the typical time frame in which you will start seeing improvements.

Making sure to work with creditors, having a set savings account, having the right guidance (bankruptcy attorney), and making a concious effort to improve your finances, will all help rebuild your credit. Although it does take some time, there are no miracle cures, it is a possibility to repair your credit rating after you file for bankruptcy. Making sure to keep on top of things, and making the best efforts on your behalf to work with creditors, are key to your success.

When your credit score goes downhill, bringing it up can be a pretty daunting experience. Whether the problem was caused from a lack of income, health or medical bills, or even bad stock investments, one can learn to improve that score from just a few simple tasks. Your credit history can sometimes include incorrect and erroneous entries, most of which could be giving you a false credit score. Know beforehand that is an item is “questionable” and cannot be verified, it must be removed from your credit report. One such task, a very important one, is to get a credit repair review. “Credit repair” means the legal work, strategy, and methods that credit review companies use to challenge questionable negative credit listings that are inaccurate, misleading, unverifiable, untimely, biased, or incomplete.

Having someone guide you through the process of reviewing your credit report can be a tremendous help. Going to an expert who knows what to look for and how to fix it can do wonders for your credit report and score. These experts, once a review is done, can set you up with a financial plan that effective and, more importantly, legal. Most credit repair companies create programs to help you clean up your credit history, settle any outstanding debts you may have, and help you establish new lines of positive credit. Two things to look for in a good credit repair company would be past experience, such as years in the industry and customer reviews, and services backed with satisfaction guarantee, including refunds should the service not live up to the company’s own policy and promise.

The top five review companies in the market include Lexington Law, Sky Blue, DSI Solutions, MSI Credit Solutions, and Ovation Credit Services. The history, experience, and price range for each company, but the results average the same. Customers have rated the companies from an 8.2 to a 9.1 on a 10-point scale. Lexington Law has 20 years of experience and offers a free consultation. Sky Blue offers a 100% money back guarantee if a client is unsatisfied as well as a low-cost setup fee. DSI Solutions eliminates a step for the client by attaining their credit report for them and the company has a one-time fee instead of monthly charges. MSI Credit Solutions customizes a plan for each client while basing their rate on the free consultation. Ovation Credit Serves offers a no-risk refund policy and provides extensive information on the process and techniques of the credit repair process.

Whether you seek to repair your credit or give yourself a higher score, the goal should be the same result: a better life with better choices. When you have nowhere to go but up, why not take a chance and get the help you need?

Are you asking yourself “How do I check my credit rating?” Your credit score, and your credit rating, are the most important things you need to keep on top of. Your credit rating is based on the three separate credit reporting agencies: Experian, Trans Union, and Equifax. Each of these three credit report companies rank your overall credit based on: your credit history, your loan history, and your payment history on debts (credit car, student loan payments, car payments, etc.).

Each year, you can request a free credit report from each of the three agencies. It is key for you, the consumer to do this. Making sure your credit reports are clean from errors and keeping up on your credit rating is essential in today’s economy. Your credit score determines everything that a consumer can and cannot do. With a poor credit score you will not be able to: take out a loan, get a line of credit, obtain a mortgage on a home, get student loans for school, or get a loan to purchase a vehicle. It is vital to check your three reports each year to make sure they are error free, and you must make sure to keep up on all your payments with creditors to help increase these scores.

Your credit rating is essential for everything you do. Creditors do not trust you and are unwilling to offer you a loan if required, and you will have difficulties making any purchase with any form of payment other than cash if your credit score is low. Keeping your credit rating high and clean are very easy to do for consumers.

The first thing is to make sure you keep up on payments. For all your credit cards, loans, mortgages, all debts you have, make sure to pay them on time, and at least pay the minimum amount due each month. If possible, pay a bit more than the minimum each month, this will help improve your credit rating, and will also get you out of those high interest credit card rates quicker. If you are unable to make payments for any reason, make sure to call that creditor at least ten days prior to when the payment is due. This will show a good faith effort on your behalf, it shows that you are not just ignoring the payment, and it will make the creditor consider giving you an extension or offering you a lower payment rate until you are able to get things back in order.

Staying on top of your credit rating is of utmost importance for all consumers. Making sure your credit scores are free of errors, and making sure you make all payments to creditors, ensures a great credit rating and shows other (probable future lenders) that you are a good consumer to deal with.

Do you have bad credit? Maybe, you’re trying to correct a mistake on your credit report? If so, then this article about what a credit repair lawyer does, is definitely for you. No matter what type of negative marks you have on your credit: whether it’s bankruptcy, late payment, charge offs, liens or judgements, you have legal rights under the Fair Credit Reporting Act, to challenge and get items removed that are outdated, not accurate, misleading or flat out wrong. A credit repair lawyer can give you advice and information on what your legal rights are. They can also get you information on how you can legally remove negative marks from your credit report once and for all.

Why is your credit report important? Well, your credit report is a big determining factor in how creditors and lenders asses their financial risk in giving you a line of credit or a loan. Credit reports are given by credit reporting agencies, sometimes referred to as credit bureaus. Like any company that collects massive amounts of data, sometimes these agencies make mistakes and place incomplete or inaccurate information on your report that could lead to serious repercussions.

Some of the problems you may incur, include being denied loans or credit, paying higher interest rates than someone with a better credit score, getting reduced lines of credit, denial of insurance, and lost employment opportunities. These are just a few of the reasons why having a credit repair lawyer is so important in fixing any credit issues before they begin to negatively impact your life.

There are many great credit repair lawyers out there who’ll do everything they can to help you rebuild your credit. However, be aware of companies and people who make claims that are too good to be true, but aren’t able to follow through when the time comes. Some of the more unsavory companies may try and convince you to get a different Social Security Number or apply for an Employer Identification Number, in an effort to make a new credit report. Do not do this! If you do this, you risk being charged and convicted of wire or mail fraud, for using the phone or mail to apply for credit while providing false information. This is a federal crime! Do not misrepresent yourself under false pretenses no matter what someone tells you.

Hopefully, this article on credit repair lawyers, has shown you how important they can be if you ever find errors or have issues with your credit report. Always be sure to do your research before choosing a lawyer. Make sure to find one that fits all your needs while staying within your budget.

You can attempt to fix your credit history alone but the fact is, you may not want to try to do it if you see a lot of fraudulent reporting on your credit history. There are a few good services out there that do a great job and work really fast.

If you’ve tried to remove credit dings from your credit report yourself, you’ll probably agree that it can be done, but depending on your own experiences, you may find that it cannot be taken care of as easily as you may have initially thought. That’s why you might want to consider using a credit repair service. It can be easier to have someone else do it than to try and do it yourself.

You are probably thinking to yourself, if I can do this myself then why use a credit repair service and the reason is simple. You may not be able to get the kind of response you want as quickly as you could if you use outside resources. When you enlist the services of a legal team, you can find experience and knowledge working for you when it counts most.

The advantage to using a service is the familiarity that a credit repair service will have when it comes to cleaning up credit histories and dealing with reporting agencies. The Fair Credit Reporting Act was placed into effect to help consumers prevent faulty items from being reported on someone’s credit history but just like many laws out there, it isn’t designed to keep crooks at bay. It does allow consumers to catch the activity that’s reported and with the Fair Credit Reporting Act, the law becomes partial to the consumer. A credit repair service can help those individuals with credit problems work things out legally and they can help consumers do it quickly.

If you are a consumer with a lot of free time on your hands to work on your own credit, you may want to try to work out your credit history issues alone. However, if you don’t know about the FCRA and you don’t have any idea of how to simply correct the problems you find on your credit then you probably want to seek outside help. This way, you can deal with people who know what to do. You can leave the legwork to someone with experience and knowledge and in doing so, you are assured that your credit is in good hands and you are too. One of the best credit repair companies out there is a credit repair law firm call Lexington Law – They are a really solid company that gets the job done fast, and they only cost about $40/month. Click Here To Check Them Out.

Let’s start out by saying that if you have bad credit, the only possible reason could have for wanting another credit card is to try and rebuild your credit rather than to go on a shopping spree at the local Wal-Mart. For people with bad credit, credit cards can be the bane of existence.

However, there are legitimate reasons for wanting a credit card. First, they are helpful in emergencies. For example, if you should get stranded by the side of the road with car trouble, a credit card can get you a tow truck quicker than if they have to bill you. Having a credit card with bad credit can also help get you back on the road toward good credit provided you use it wisely.

Just so you can’t get into too much trouble with a credit card while you have bad credit, I recommend that you get a secured credit rather than try to apply for a standard credit card. A secured credit card can prevent you from getting into credit problems and still show that you can be responsible with a credit card plus give you the peace of mind you need in the event of an emergency.

With a secured credit card, you deposit a certain amount of money into an account that is tied to that card. You can then use your card just like you would a regular credit card. The good part about a secured credit card is that once you’ve reached the amount of that deposit, you can’t use the card anymore until you deposit more money.

A secured credit card is a great way to start building your credit when you’ve amassed a bad credit history. Most credit bureaus don’t look at secured credit cards quite the same way they do regular credit cards, but they do look at it as a good faith gesture on your part to try and rebuild your credit and show that you can handle credit responsibly.

Even if you have bad credit, you might also be able to secure a department store credit card. Many department stores will offer you a credit with a low limit even if your credit isn’t stellar. Of course, the big thing here is to make your payments on time and don’t overextend your credit. It’s credit suicide to get a card, charge too much on it, and then miss payments or be late on payments.

Just because you have bad credit doesn’t mean you can’t get a credit card. Just be careful if you do get one and remember that there’s a reason you have bad credit in the first place and learn from your past mistakes.

Basically, you will call your creditor and let them know that you want to pay off the account and ask them what the lowest number they will agree to. Most of them will agree to a lower payment amount than what shows on your statement. I have a friend that came into some money through an inheritance and owed a rather large credit card bill – over $9,000. she called the credit card company to let them know that she had some money that she could use to pay off the card but she couldn’t pay the full $9,000. After some negotiation, they agreed that if she would pay $6,400, the debt would be settled. she made the payment and her credit score rose almost immediately. What is a debt settlement? Basically, you will call your creditor and let them know that you want to pay off the account and ask them what the lowest number they will agree to. Most of them will agree to a lower payment amount than what shows on your statement.

I have a friend that came into some money through an inheritance and owed a rather large credit card bill – over $9,000. she called the credit card company to let them know that she had some money that she could use to pay off the card but she couldn’t pay the full $9,000. After some negotiation, they agreed that if she would pay $6,400, the debt would be settled. she made the payment and her credit score rose almost immediately.

Not all companies will agree to debt settlement, but when you can find one who will, it can go a long way to repair your credit. Be honest with the company and tell them what you have to offer. If it is acceptable to them, the settlement of the debt will be finalized and you will be on your way toward credit repair. I have personally seen companies accept “pennies on the dollar” for debts. In fact, I personally got a bill cut in half on my own credit this way.

There are other companies besides credit card companies who will agree to debt settlements. One of the biggest reasons that people get into credit problems is due to overly huge medical bills. These cannot be helped oftentimes and they can stack up very quickly causing huge blemishes on your credit report.

Believe it or not, you can make a debt settlement agreement with the medical companies that can go a long way to repair your credit. Check with the hospital to see if they have any special programs for people who are financial difficulty because of an illness that isn’t covered by insurance or for people who don’t have insurance. Almost all medical providers realize that medical care is expensive, so if you show them your total financial picture and at least try to make some type of settlement on your debt, they will be willing to accept it. Keep in mind that some won’t, but there’s really no harm in trying, now is there?

Using debt settlement agreements as a way to repair your credit is just a smart way to go. Make the phone calls and be prepared to negotiate. Many people will work with you if you show a good faith gesture to try and make your debt right through a settlement which will repair your credit in no time at all!

On December 4, 2003, President George W. Bush signed into law the Fair and Accurate Credit Transactions (FACT) act that provide one free credit report to all citizens of the United States per year. This came about as the result of a rise in identity theft and the need for citizens to able to view and monitor their credit reports to check for accuracy of information.

Now, all United States citizens are entitled to one free credit report each year from any one of the three credit reporting agencies: Experian, Equifax, and TransUnion. This one free credit report can be very valuable to the everyday consumer as it is used by most lending institutions and credit card companies to evaluate you and decided if you are a good credit risk.

There are various ways you can go about getting your free credit report. You can go to any of the credit reporting agencies’ websites: www.experian.com, www.equifax.com, or www.transunion.com. There will be links there that can guide you through getting your free credit report.

Probably one of the easier ways, however, to go about it is to visit either of the following websites: www.annualcreditreport.com or www.freecreditreport.com. They will guide you through the process by asking a series of questions and asking personal things to help determine that you are who you say you are. Within a few moments, your free credit report will appear on your computer screen and you will be able to save it to your computer and print it out so you can check for any mistakes.

Many people feel that the FACT act is one of the best pieces of legislation to come into effect in a long time. Many years ago, the everyday consumer would have to pay money to see their credit report. The information was almost held hostage unless that person wanted to “pay up”. The FACT Act was written and passed to prevent this.

Legislators agreed that people should have access to information about them and that they deserved to be able to see what the credit reporting agencies have compiled about them. So now, each and every American can get a free credit report each year.

We urge you to get your free credit report right now if you haven’t already. It is how lending companies decide if you can get a car loan, a home loan, or a line of credit. For many Americans, this is very important. So, go get your free credit report – but before you do…

Here is the strategy… simply call the credit account that is reporting “less than favorable” info, and ask them to be cool and remove it. Just call up the credit card company (or whoever) and explain to them that you just ordered a copy of your credit report and noticed that there was a reported late payment from you on it. I hope you can use them to your benefit too!

#1 – Ask For Forgiveness
A lot of people don’t do this enough, but they should. Here is the strategy… simply call the credit account that is reporting “less than favorable” info, and ask them to be cool and remove it.

This works really well for late payments, which can wreak havoc on your credit score.

Just call up the credit card company (or whoever) and explain to them that you just ordered a copy of your credit report and noticed that there was a reported late payment from you on it. Play dumb and ask when it was and have them get the info for you. Once they do, just be as polite as possible and explain times are tough right now, and it would help you immensely if there was any way they could get that removed – you’ll be surprised at how often this trick works.

Also, if it doesn’t work the first time – call back. A lot of times you are at the mercy of the rep on the other end of the phone line – if they are in a bad mood (or worse… a jerk), you’re in trouble! My strategy, call back and get someone else.

If that doesn’t work, I have a better strategy for you…

#2 – If All Else Fails – Get It Removed (Nuke It!)
What I am going to tell you is one of the most powerful strategies I can reveal to you about how to fix your credit fast. It is what I personally used to get my credit score where it is today from a 418, and I did it pretty darn fast once I figured this trick out.

Here is the deal – when it comes to the credit bureaus, the law is on our side. You see there is a law on the books that says that if someone requests proof of anything on their credit report (address, late payment, etc.) the credit bureaus have 30 days to provide that proof, or it gets removed – simple as that!

Now, this works really well because most of the time these big agencies do not have the time to track down some random credit card company you got a credit card from 3 years ago and get the proof that you didn’t pay them on time… instead, they just remove the late notice.

Maybe some of you have “read between the lines” here and realized that this strategy works with literally anything – charge-offs, repossessed vehicles, you name it.

The way to do this is with a dispute letter… I explain how to do this and give you a free letter to use in my free course (see below).

#3 – Pay Down Debt
If you don’t have anything too horrible on your credit report, one thing you need to be really aware of is how much of a credit limit you have compared to how much of a balance you are carrying.

The idea here is you want your current balance to stay below about 30% of the max for that line of credit. For example, if you have a credit card with a $1,000 limit on it, you don’t want to carry any more than about $300 on it for any period of time. Keep it paid down and your credit scores will thank you.

Another tip I give my clients is, if you have maxed out credit cards and any kind of money in the bank, you’d be better off paying down that 10%-20% credit card than saving that money at 3% in the bank… make sense? This kind of strategy keep your credit scores high, and your credit cards low – and if the “stuff” hits the fan, you still have the empty balance on that credit card to use in an emergency.

Those are 3 of my many strategies to get your credit scores high and keep them there. If you liked those strategies and want to learn more, as well as get sample credit dispute letters, please sign up for my 7 Day Credit Repair Boot Camp – It is totally FREE, and will help you get your credit scores back on track in no time!

—

Good Luck Getting Approved!
